honestly:
i think i'm noob.
i think i'm a hypocrite, doing things i know i shouldn't.
and i am not nice.
so there.
:O surprise?

self-centred

when we make our decisions, is it our interests we place first and foremost? was it for others? out of consideration and the true desire to help others or give them a chance or even to prevent them from feeling sad? or do we do things so that primarily, we won't feel bad, and secondarily, others feel good? does it even matter as long as both objectives are met? the bottom line is: are we intrinsically selfish?

i shouldn't do rumination. seriously, i should just study and develop thoughts on pure academia.

poof

i never knew what it meant that i used my arms so much that they went numb. until now. i can't feel my left arm!! so much for being clever and impatient and lugging a 20kg box from the mrt station home.. at least i didn't overestimate myself - well, i managed to get it home :x oh, here comes feeling and with it pain... even typing makes it feel sore. great.

anyway lunch was quite fun.. =D i'm happy-ish because we had a sort of 'rgsquash outing' to visit an ex-squash-teacher-ic, did stupid stuff like attempt to shop for a powerpuff girls' item to give as a present, but realizing powerpuff is now 'out' then being indecisive over other presents.. getting a birthday card instead, and being totally lame while doing so!

hahaa then planned a silly birthday 'surprise' which backfired and resulted in us getting lost because we lost sight of the targets -.- there was only supposed to be one of us meeting her (she didn't know about the rest of us crashers), so we were supposed to pretend to be coincidentally in the area, faking excuses such as "we came to do CIP at ulu pandan cc", "i had an interview", "we came to support her", "make ez-link card at buona vista mrt", when we 'chanced' upon teacher in question and person who was supposed to be the only one there initially. But, thanks to oh so wonderful directions given by first contact after we got lost =P, we got weird looks while asking random passers-by how to get to the place (she gave us the name of a single stall in the huge hawker centre). ah, but it was amusing =)

and now it's back to work! except i can't lift my left arm =x bah

the end of another month

i'm still awake again! and not being productive so i find myself here once more after a session of blog-surfing, during which i felt really guilty for not (a) being asleep or (b) working... i choose (a)! after this is done.

i guess this week's been quite emo-angsty for me. and i'm not really sure why, although it was largely about gradnight arrangements but i'm glad that's settled! what really irks me now is the registration stuff and i'm going to foist all that admin work onto someone else :P i don't like having a short fuse because i feel bad after i get all angsty at people.. which i shouldn't do.. even though i know i'll feel awful, sometimes it just comes out! hence the heart-ripping fiasco? perhaps.

and in every big group of people, there will always be individual idiosyncrasies.. skeletons jumping out of your closet when you open the door to rummage for a new shirt to show the world?? you're not alone.

now to the point of this post, while surfing i stumbled across a j1 girl's blog.. she had been in syfc but well, got kicked out =( which is quite sad for the future PPL-ers coz she's chio =) joking! (although it's true) ahh, and i started thinking about what it'd feel like not to be able to fly again...

ok actually i can't really... nooooooooo :S

okay, i was just lazy to retype it out =) but the point's there. i'm just afraid to commit, that i won't be able to meet the demands of being rsaf, and what if it took up so much of me that all the other things i want to do with my life get engulfed by work! this is really something i need to sit down and think about after As... hopefully scholarship applications will still be open after As. because i don't want to think about it now.

everyone needs someone(s).? how random. lol!

oh went to 'support' sva presentation today at wlb. turned up late though :S due to mix-up in locations, went to the wrong floor, luckily it only has 4 floors! and i wondered at the differences between procrastination and not, and how the rewards don't always justify the quantity of time spent on something? actually i'm thinking about studying time now, like full concentration and short time vs long time. incoherent. i think that's probably because it's past 3 now.. anyway the presentation was quite entertaining.. gj! and gnite.

escapism. and
thought experiments.

do you think if i ripped out my heart, i wouldn't feel anything anymore?

hmm.

070807

D-day is arriving and i must say, i'm quite excited! although not fully prepared =) it's time to do battle men!

today was quite a good day.. toy inventor's challenge meant meeting 'new' RJ people, although they were almost all from the same class, they were quite open and happy and interesting people, nice to interact with.. haha i think their class is quite cool! and it was the first time i went on stage to talk in a long while, and sort of host the game finals - kooti kooti, some utterly silly yet amusing and fun game. yup i think we did quite a good job, thankfully the atmosphere wasn't such a formal one!

hung around after the event talking. great times =) i love my friends! (just had to type that)

er. nothing else i feel like saying here. bye. =)

TWEN-ty FOW-er SEV-en

the list of the dead and the wounded. the hallows. horcruxes. parseltongue. shocks, surprises, invisible hands squeezing your heart and making it ache when you try to breathe. the world of harry potter (more affectionately known as harry potty, i think i rhymes better) has closed. for me. because i've finally finished reading the book~ amidst various interruptions such as sleep, school, flying (a more than welcome interruption actually), study, play, food and television... okay boring, but the point is, i'm DONE. and now it's time to get back to reality.

50 days to prelims.
100 days to 'A's.
and it won't always stay that way!

Flight today was positively lovely! although the weather left much to be desired.. i think reaching early instead of staying back (whereby i would have played some vball and tired myself out further) worked wonders! especially because i plonked myself in the cushioned roller chair in the last pre-flight briefing cubicle, adjusted it to my comfort, and proceeded to take a (totally unintentional) nap =) i had my work on the table in front of me okay! but i guess erasing the fatigue was higher on my body and subconscious mind's priority list, not that i'm complaining =D

it was a new experience, taxying out in the beginning of a drizzle, and flying in the rain! cold winds came in spurts from the vents at the side, which made my legs really cold from time to time but it was cool :P literally and figuratively. much more enjoyable than flying under intense UV radiation (bad for skin). it was one of the few times i've flown in rain, and one of the few times i've enjoyed it! the other times consisted of increasing intensity of scanning for lightning strikes, since i seem to have a knack for spotting them and scaring myself -.- but i performed the exercises well, my mind was alert and forming mental pictures of everything around me! all was as it should be. "all was well" as everyone seems to love spoilering - the last line of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.. well, much as i predicted, but it was quite a good read, surprisingly.

Death is but crossing the world, as friends do seas; they live in one another still. For they must needs be present, that love and live in that which is omnipresent. In this divine glass they see face to face; and their converse is free, as well as pure. This is the comfort of friends, that though they may be said to die, yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present, because immortal.
- William Penn

and now a more useful quote =P
The Law of Comparative Advantage states that trade will arise between two nations if there is a difference in the comparative costs of producing particular goods. It explains why many countries are dependent on others for goods which they themselves have an absolute advantage in producing.

okay, i just shuffled to an Ataris song that played "And everything is okay" repeatedly at the end! hilarious.

oh and it always comes down to mind over matter (heart, musckles, etc.) so embrace your 'suffering' and work through it! =) pain is good for you, it lets you know you're alive. seriously oo

topsy-turvy

it's funny how the smallest things, or a gradual accumulation of them, can turn your entire life upside down.

like Tweener's story.

what does it take to make someone break, give up all for lost, and just sit back waiting to die or even find ways to end one's life? how do we know when we've reached that limit? and when that threshold is crossed, can we even be saved? then again, what if that doesn't make you break, but make you lose control of morality instead and do things you never knew you could do in the name of survival? at the very core, do we have nothing but survival instincts?

so many questions. and i guess different people have different answers to them. i hope i never have to find out my answer to those questions, because pushing my limits is different from being forced to discover them when in dangerous situations!

thinking is bad for you

Razors pain you
Rivers are damp
Acid stain you
and drugs cause cramp
Guns aren’t lawful
Nooses give
Gas smells awful
You might as well live.

- Dorothy Parker (1893-1967)

it's rather amusing how the education system works against us at times.. we are encouraged to make quick and accurate decisions and berated for being slow workers, yet one of the gretaest emphasis of the current education system is being about to think from different perspectives, considering all the options before making a conclusion - case in point: the Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis structure for answering questions! well, i guess if your mind works very quickly, you might be able to put off deliberation and come to a conclusion based on the various points of argument that you have.. unfortunately, not everyone is equipped with such quick processors! (although i often wish i had one..) perhaps we can work at training our brains to come to a conclusion in a fraction of the time it takes me to decide what i want to eat... rather inapt comparison, but for want of a better standard although the Big Mac Index is quite cool, we make do! Burgernomics is rather fascinating though, and since i'm sort of on the subject of food: healthy living ftw.

Sorry if you don't get the links. I'm without a single hint of personality disorder.. which personally, i think is quite sad ):

Listening to the Snow Patrol album now, and i'm quite glad i caught them on Live Earth ;) i think it was one of the better performances i caught... it was worth staying up and turning on the telly to hear Chasing Cars, and end up with a renewed appreciation for the song, no matter how overplayed it got for awhile.

Gone off tangent - i was supposed to blog about why thinking is bad for you. but it's fun to google the phrase "thinking is bad for you" and read various ramblings by similar layman bloggers! and search funny terms to learn new things like how your frontal lobes change as you grow older, and what they do for you.. incidentally, i stumbled upon Dopamine once more - a really fascinating neurohormone since it seems to be the cause of addictions. i need dopamine influxes when i study, because imagine being addicted to studying! you'll get an A for sure.

I guess no one'll never find out exactly why i think that thinking is bad. myself included, especially since i try my "bestest" not to think. actually i should reverse my inclinations and start analysing and thinking in order to improve my studies... just don't think about non-related stuff and thinking will work in my favour. and i've just proved that point that TAS syndrome is bad for you because you tend to see greys instead of black and white. while this is not bad per se, i'd rather have a stand on something and stick to it!

Guess i'm still floating: find me an anchor and if possible, find me one to the skies.

Smoking Peanuts and other stuff

Simple to follow procedures will teach you how to make drugs with basic ingredients In addition to that advanced concepts of manufacturing drugs are introduced as a starting point for the more serious enthusiast.

This article is for information purposes only. You yourself are responsible for what you do to your body as you will be the one who has to face the consequences of using psychoactive and narcotic substances. Psychoactive substances could lead to mental disorders and narcotics are well known as very addictive and dangerous in large quantities.

Peanut Shells
Opium Poppy Seeds
LSA Green Tea
Advanced Techniques

Peanut Shells
The thin brown skins found around the average peanut contains psychoactive substances. The only raw substance needed for this procedure is a bag of peanuts, it is better to choose fresh peanuts that have no added chemicals such as preservatives found in the commercial 'peanut bags', these could be harmful to your health. Remove the skins from the peanuts, a handful will be enough, and if they are salted soak them in a glass of water so that the salt is dissolved. Dry the peanut shells by placing them on a towel underneath a lamp. For use roll the crumbled shells in rolling paper and smoke.

Advanced Techniques
The basic principle of drug manufacture is to extract the alkaloid from the plant matter for further use. A lot of plants contain very interesting substances known as alkaloids, these alkaloids are what recreational drugs are made of. To extract this alkaloid from the plant an extraction technique is used based on the solubility properties of the substance in different liquids that have different levels of acidity. This is a lot more complicated than the techniques discussed above but yields a very potent product. Examples of products by this technique are Opium, DMT and Ephedrine. It requires additional equipment such as a vacuum filtration funnel to perform the extraction process.

tomorrow feels like it's going to be an utterly abominable day.

hurray for living.

cheese cake =)

i've been swearing alot again lately and it's bad.. it's not like i'm emo or angsty or wdv.. it's just some bad tendencies that i will get rid of!!

like the gp compre said: use force of will power to reshape and restructure yourself. which is what i've been using to curb the bad habits and all that to varying degrees of success.. i guess this was a minor regression phase but i'll get through it!

I've got my sights trained on you, A. nothing else will suffice.

p.s. Dear racial harmony higher power, can i have a wentworth miller of my own for racial harmony day? because that's the nearest holiday i think.. anyway 2 eps of pbs1 down! 5 more to go~

All Of The Above <3

Great album =)

submitted my FHT form today, more accurately, slid it under a door to be sent off to caas on tuesday. and as i was holding on to the form, a sudden sense of calamity befell me - okay, i'm exaggerating.. it was more "this is it, ahh." but a feeling rather than the pile of words i'm typing now. and for awhile i just sat in the last cubicle of the pre-flight briefing room (after making my way there while clutching the form, in a sort of daze). and stared out the shifting blinds willing people to come soon so i could do something, anything.. but then as suddenly as the feeling of "it's finally here, zomg" hit, it faded and diminished. and i was left feeling decidedly weird about clutching a form and sitting there alone accompanied by a piece of paper. yet, that piece of paper meant a lot.. a culmination of all the work, and a reminder of the work that i still have to put into what i shall call 'the final flight' although it's actually the Final Handling Test, tentatively on 25 JUL 07, 0900HRS.

it's really here.
wow. remember: it's not okay

Thursday, July 05, 2007

IT'S NOT OKAY

seriously.

stop lying to yourself.

there's no such thing as don't worry, it'll be better next time.

*the 3 second rule

i was about to blog, but i decided to do GP instead. then as i took out GP, i changed my mind and started reading! :s it's a fascinating book <3 reading about dog-fights, and how pilots' mindsets work.. i really think i could be a fighter, and i hope i have the ability to be one.. ah, but that's quite far away!

Baron Manfred Von Richthofen, James McCudden VC, etc. learning about the old prop-driven fighters and their fixed sights guns, the description of dog-fighting is just lovely la..

anyway, i need to perfect my 3 second rule scan! that's basically my only flying problem.. set and scan to maintain it..

Post CTs activities were quite good =) Watched TRANSFORMERS! <3 it was so much better than expected - enough explosive action, which i thoroughly enjoyed, interspersed with funny parts! man, it was good =D then hung out with classmates, which was quite fun. while waiting for vball girls' sleepover at yl's gorgeous place, went to tampines library and borrowed some books! i haven't done that for a long time so =d yay! stumbled on the little treasure i mentioned above.. okay i should get started on GP since it's due tmr.. but let me finish my narrative. oh went cycling at ecp day after sleepover with la famille.. missed the JC PPL-ers outing to watch NDP rehearsal though, because mom wouldn't let me go! at least went cycling.. and yesterday, despite threatening altostratus and some cumulus, managed to complete sortie 45! hurrahhh~ the sad thing is that i'm the last one of my instructor's current PPL-ers to take FHT.. and i was leading the pack of my instructor's JC PPL-ers early this year! )= that's quite annoying but at least it'd be done soon..

i think i will miss flying. alot. haha. shall get falcon4.
oh i saw the singapore flag fly past along the ecp coast! it was quite pretty =) i shall upload photos onto my comp soon =)

ahh GP!! x.X

the height of youth

(omg i blogged some super long thing and it's gone. so now i'm shortening everything)
Youth Day Tribute!
An inordinate pleasure for passion is the secret of remaining young. - Oscar Wilde

my mom reminded me of the accident i had today while cycling and i decided to blog it before my indignation dissipated.
(an abbreviated version because the long thing i typed disappeared)

1. speeding back because i thought i was late. i was safely biking and had successfully overtaken alot of people. when i came across a girl and a gang biking towards my direction. there was a roller blader in white in front of me and the girl was like 200m away and in the wrong lane. i judged there was enough time and space if the girl moved out of the centre of the wrong lane (the lane i was in).

--> [me] [white blader] [girl]
-------------------------------
...................<-- [gang]

2. assumed she would give way because of the signs she was giving off - eyes (made eye contact), wheels, body language. so i cut the white blader and moved to second stage: cutting the girl by turning to the left because the group of people was blocking the right... and the girl was drifting slightly right, quite slowly...

3. THEN she CHANGED HER MIND?! LIKE WHAT. ON. EARTH. she decided, no i shan't give way?! and she drifted back!!! into the lane i had now cut into?! i was rather shocked because i was too near AND i would have gotten away unscathed because i swerved damn sharply to avoid her! BUT. BUT!! she decided to turn in the same direction , i have no idea why. WHY!!!

4. crash. her front wheel scraped against my bike chain, missing my leg by centimetres. and she turned in the correct direction this time so we didnt get tangled. phew. wheels, spokes and bike chains and flesh weren't meant to meet each other in close proximity. i went off into the grass because turning back would have made us more entangled and used the momentum to get off the bike before it fell. managed to make it not fall too. the rollerblader in white was too close behind and he went off into the grass too, but luckily he didn't fall down. girl disentangled and used momentum to move forward to center of path? and stopped there. i think she bit herself (no comment). i don't feel any pain anywhere so i guess didn't get injured. luckily. otherwise i'd be more pissed.

okay. i don't feel better after blogging it. and the illustrations screwed up.

like wth. i'm sure you're in the wrong lane, still don't know how to move out of it when you see people approaching?! alright, maybe i should have known and slowed down, i trusted my judgement but forgot about the randomness and folly of people's brains and perhaps, pride? nvm, i know better now and will take those into my calculations...imagine if it had been two cars?! BOOM!! byebye.

i hope she doesn't learn to drive. or if she does, she'll learn some common stuff.

Common knowledge that everyone should learn:
1. Speeding vehicles take the innermost lane of that direction.
2. Drive in the correct direction. (duh) alternatively, learn how to read arrows.
3. Overtaking requires speeding up and moving into the innermost lane.
4. Slow vehicles take the outermost lane, don't anyhow, or risk irritating people.
5. Be Clearheaded and not blinded by stuff. please.
6. Do not pose a danger to other motorists. zzz.

on the other hand, it was quite a good cycle today =D 2 hours straight with only 20 minutes break when i reached the end of ecp from mac's! the part where they are going to build a connector to changi beach. lol. the only reason i didn't go on was because it was a car road and not a cycling track. found breaker 23 =) and took a breather there, snapped some shots using my phone. Next break i took along some stretch of landing leading out to sea, to take pics of the Singapore flag being flown along the coastline by some huge-ass chopper whose name i don't recall... and random pics along the way back. before i realised, i was going to be late and the above incident occurred... ahh -.-" sigh. no mood to blog about post cts stuff. do that another time! but the ECP trip was good overall, especially dinner at the hawker centre! and the accomplishment i felt from cycling so long, and finally getting exercise. that accident was just a tiny mar on the entire snapshot of the day, like a small mosquito that happened to land on the lens of the camera just as it was shooting the photo.

at least i learnt something from that accident.
oh well. flight tomorrow! =)
FHT in my sights again.
