one more day without work

i was slack today, and there's nothing much to do online!! rawr. the horoscope said i should indulge in my creativity and do something artsy but i didn't.. i did go running again =D i WILL make it a lifestyle. the current, never-to-be-proven hypothesis is that i was too sedentary as a child! never move about enough, just sit down and watch tv, read books, eat, sleep.. yeah. maybe that's why i have too much fat! so i'm going to be more active now =) burn away all the fattiness.

went for prk checkup BRIEFING. it was really brief LOL.. waste my time. the real thing is at NUH. so i went home and slept until lunch =S hopefully the old wives' tale that amount of sleep is inversely proportional to obesity holds true! =D then i'd be on my way to less fattiness! i've been sleeping alot, but with quite weird sleeping habits, i.e. sleep at 12am, wake up 7am, eat breakfast with mom, run, bathe, read newspapers, watch cartoons, tired, sleep until lunch..then it's normal. ok actually that was just one day's schedule but it seems so applicable!

did some surds and looked through the inequalities tutorial.. but when i saw differentiation, decided to leave that for another day =P but i couldn't bring myself to do more tutorials.. bully for me =( so i went and read 3 chapters of stiglitz's globalisation and it's discontents.. i'm re-reading the book! it's quite heavy, and takes awhile to digest so i guess i shall intersperse reading that with other books. but the issues that he raises are quite fascinating! especially the hypocrisy of developed nations with regards to developing countries.. it really shows how selfish everything is, which is quite sad.

i guess in that sense, asian culture seems prettier! there was this article in the newspaper yesterday, that cited a study of japanese vs western students: they were showed a series of drawings of five children and were asked to rate the face of the child at the centre of the picture on a 10 point scale for happiness, sadness and anger! and what they found was that jap students rated the happiness of the central figure higher when all the other children were happy too, but the rating dropped when the rest were sad.. whereas the western students were largely indifferent to the background! and that says alot for culture and perception. it's quite obvious that western society places alot more emphasis on independence and individualism whereas for asians, there's more going on w.r.t the collective mindset. and i guess there are pros and cons for both! either way, situational awareness!! rawr

i hope tomorrow will be more exciting =)
