Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away...
To state the obvious, it's Sunday.
The day before school reopens.
The day before the monotony and humdrum
of our daily lives return.
It is time to prepare for the reboot.
But first i shall reflect on yesterday,
when all my troubles seemed so far away...
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Saturday, the first International Physics Olympiad Student Liaison Officer (IPhO SLO) Training was held. I wonder now what made me sign up in the first place... now it seems too real, too tangible and i guess, i'm afraid of screwing up. Being The Singapore Ambassador is an honour, and a helluva job! Now i don't know if i can 'step up to the plate' and be that person to comfort, eoncourage and boost the spirit of my team, if i can communicate with them (assuming they don't speak english) or if i can leave them with good memories of our country. How depressing. Even with the free T-shirt we were given (with more to come) and free food that we partook of, i'm wondering if i made the right decision signing up for this event and going for the training instead of getting to know my OG better through OG outing.
Communication is one of the key elements of networking, of life. Today, i was ordering roti prata and the Indian uncle couldn't understand english, so he mixed up my order but my dad came to the rescue. Even ordering food from someone who has had more contact with Singaporeans is a chore when we don't speak enough of the same language is a chore. What more someone from another country who doesn't even use a similar language? The gravity of the situation was further impressed on me and now, i'm not sure anymore... I guess if i want to back out i should do so quickly and give someone else a chance... Even though they said they are interviewing more people and could cut some of us, and hence the possibility of me getting in is greatly reduced, what if i got in?
Should I stay or should I go?
Oh...
Yesterday,
all my troubles seemed so far away...
